SYMPTOM(s):
Client connection to database fails with error (3243)
You cannot access local data in this version of PROGRESS. (3243)
Attempting to connect to a database on a mapped drive.
Attempting connection from machine where database resides
Only a Client Networking license is installed
CAUSE:
This is the expected behavior because a Client Networking licenses only allows access to data through a network to a PROGRESS SERVER process but you tried to read data from a PROGRESS SERVER on the same machine, or tried to access a local PROGRESS database directly. You can not connect to a database that resides on the local system without a Personal Database license. There is no Personal Database or Database SA serial number in your client progress.cfg. (You have a client-only or CP product.)
FIX:
To resolve the problem perform one of the following:
1. Connect to the database using the -S serviceName -H hostname parameters that the database was started with.
2. Install a Personal Database license.
