Actuate connection from Win giving Unix errors. Error(1156)
DRAFT COPY - Currently under review and edit.
INTRODUCTION:
=============
Bizarre errors on Windows generating unix errors because of improperly
set environment variables.
WHY YOU NEED TO KNOW THIS:
===========================
Users may get the unix error: BROKER could not fork a server process
. (1156) while trying to connect from Actuate to a Windows database
with no Unix involved. The oddness is attributed to not setting the
PROOIBRK and PROOIDRV variables properly. If they are given complete
paths to the _prooibk and _prooidv executables (these are unix
executables that were erroneously copied to the pc) instead of the
proper paths to oibrkr32.exe and oidrvr32.exe the user will get the
user will get the 1156. It is worth a look if something odd is happen
ing at the user site.
