SYMPTOM(s):
Cannot read the registry key root when using Insert button in ProControl
Using Insert button generates the following error:
Can not read the registry. Key Root
Progress registry keys cleaned before installation
Progress registry keys appear to have the correct permissions
Machine is Primary Domain Controller
CAUSE:
The exact cause is unknown at the time of this writing. Further investigations done by Progress showed that the problem is related to Windows 2000, not Progress.
FIX:
Follow Article ID 816818 in support.microsoft.com:
Check permissions for the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SecurePipeServers\winreg
Ensure that the SYSTEM account has read permissions for this key.
