SYMPTOM(s):
Unable to work on a database while an online backup is running
Progress application is extremely slow during an online backup
Users are unable to connect to a database while an online backup is running
Performance problem persists even after the BI file is backed up
CHANGE:
Memory on the machine has been upgraded and -B on the database(s) has been increased
CAUSE:
There is not enough APW's started on the database to handle bigger shared memory "area" as they is more data in memory to be flushed to a database.
FIX:
Start an additional APW(s) on every database on the system. Please also monitor Writes by APW using promon <db>, option 5. If the number is constantly below 80/85%, add another APW (proapw).
