Installing add on products for Release 6.2 and 6.3
INTRODUCTION:
=============
This Technical Support KnowledgeBase Entry demonstrates how
to install add-on products.
WHY YOU NEED TO KNOW THIS:
==========================
Scenario: The user installed the 4GL/RDBMS with one set of codes.
Now, the user wants to install an additional product (RESULTS or
Fast Track). The user uses the new codes provided by the add-on
product.
The user successfully installs the add-on product. However, the
user gets an error when trying to run the product. The message
states that the user is not allowed to run this product.
PROCEDURAL APPROACH:
====================
What went wrong? The user gave the wrong path to the DLC
directory when installing the add-on. The progres.cfg in the DLC
directory wasn't updated,(i.e., the user didn't create a backup called
progress.bcf. Instead, the user properly installed the progress.cfg
file in the default directory, and it was erased when the installation
program concluded.
Solution: Do the installation procedure again with the right path
to the DLC directory.
In Release 6.3C, the installation program will be changed so that it
makes sure progress.cfg is in the DLC directory the user supplies.
