SYMPTOM(s):
dbman will not start the database broker
ERROR: Unable to locate database <database name> (DBMan005)
FACT(s) (Environment):
proserve will start the database broker
Admin Server is running
UNIX
Windows
Progress 9.x
OpenEdge 10.x
CAUSE:
The database has not been defined in the conmgr.properties file.
FIX:
In order to start the database with dbman the database must be defined in the property file conmgr.properties and the Admin Server must be running.
The definition of the database should be done using the Progress Explorer tool. In Windows:
use the Progress Explorer to configure your database. In Unix:
you can setup a minimum installation of Progress on a windows machine. Then use Progress Explorer tool on the windows machine to administer your remote UNIX database.
