SYMPTOM(s):
Remote client connection to database hangs
Connecting to the database using a character client will launch procedure editor but only display a blinking cursor
Clients local to the database can establish a connections using Localhost, IpAddress, and Hostname
Client and Server can establish telnet connections both ways
promon R&D, 1 Status Display, 3 Servers, shows the client as connected
tracert from Database system showed the client networking parameters was not configured on the correct subnet.
CAUSE:
DNS was not setup correctly on the client system causing the client to take the wrong path to the server.
FIX:
Resolve network problems.
