Status: Verified
SYMPTOM(s):
Errors 9445, 4229, 10560 shown within database log file
Using NFS V3 file system for both BI and DB files
SYSTEM ERROR: read wrong dbkey at offset <offset> in file <file> found <dbkey>, expected <dbkey>, retrying. (9445)
Corrupt block detected when reading from database. (4229)
bkread: Error occurred in area <6>, block number: <num>, extent <dbname>.d1. (10560)
FACT(s) (Environment):
dbrpr does NOT show that any database corruption exists.
Compaq Tru64 UNIX
Progress/OpenEdge Product Family
CAUSE:
The exact cause is unknown at the time of this writing.
FIX:
It has been seen where database corruption errors have occurred, but upon rebooting the machine and scanning the database with dbrpr there is no actual corruption within the database. It is expected that there is a failure occurring outside of Progress, most likely with the NFS layer.
Please have hardware vendors to perform low level checks on the hardware and to check system logs. You may also need to contact the NFS vendor to check for NFS software issues.
