SYMPTOM(s):
Errors in startup of Background Writer processes when database is started through Progress Explorer
After starting the database through Progress Explorer the following message appears:
Error in startup of before image writer process for database <ipadress>:<dbname>
Message:Timed out(JUNMsg027)
Error in startup of after image writer process for database {0}.
Message: {1} (JUNMsg027)

FACT(s) (Environment):

Progress/OpenEdge Product Family
CAUSE:
Only Enterprise Licenses support Before-image writer (BIW) and After-image writer (AIW).
The Error message received is merely informing the user that these BIW AIW processes for database failed to startup.
The reason that they are starting up is because they have been set to auto startup when the database is started.
FIX:
Uncheck the Auto startup of the Background Writers
Progress Explorer -> [Databases] -> db-name -> [Configurations] -> defaultConfiguration + <right-click>:properties + Background Writers:
+ Before-image writer, Auto startup = FALSE
+ After-image writer, Auto startup = FALSE
