GOAL:
Where can I locate release notes online?
GOAL:
How to find release notes from the rdl environment?
GOAL:
Where can I find release note internally?
GOAL:
Where are the release notes in Progress?
FIX:
Release notes are located on any of the porting machines. A porting machine is a machine located in our Main lab in the Bedford office. The porting machine is used by development for the testing and duplication of bugs. These machines also are used by our Porting team to port the Progress release for a specific Operating System. A listing of porting machines can be obtained by using the getmach command. For more information on the getmach command or locating a porting machine, reference solution P100216: "Where can I find a specific machine for testing Progress on?".
The process to access release notes is:
1. telnet to a porting machine
2. Once on the porting machine use the rdl script located in /usr/rdl/sc to configure the environment and version of Progress you are interested in obtaining the release notes for.
Example: rdl 91e
3. Then cd $RDL/admin/mfg/doc
4. In this directory, you will find a file called README.PRO. These are the release notes for the specific version that you rdled.
