Kbase P95744: What are the prox.dll differences between OpenEdge 10.0A and OpenEdge 10.0B

GOAL:

Where is prox.dll installed?

GOAL:

It is possible to have one prox.dll for each Progress version installed?

FACT(s) (Environment):

Progress 9.1D
OpenEdge 10.0A
OpenEdge 10.0B

FIX:

In 10.0B Progress update the ProgIds associated with prox.dll.

This means that before 10.0B, even if there are two different prox.dlls on the machine, there was only one set of registry entries for them. Therefore if one prox.dll is registered, it would overwrite the other.

If the 10.0A is registered, the registry would point to the 10.0A prox.dll. This meant that when 9.1D08 is executed, it would use the 10.0A version of prox.dll. Or it could be vice-versa.

In 10.0B the directory of prox.dll was changed. It now goes to "c:/program files/common files/Progress Software/10" instead of "c:/program files/common files/Progress Software". So now it is possible to have one prox.dll from 9.x/10.0A and another one from 10.0B without one overwriting the other.
