Status: Unverified
SYMPTOM(s):
Database abnormally shutdown with errors:
<file-name> is missing, shutting down... (4195)
BROKER 0: Begin ABNORMAL shutdown code 2 (2249)
Observing CPU level of machine indicates low CPU availability
CAUSE:
Shortage of available CPU caused shutdown of database.
When a Progress database server is running it performs periodic tests to make sure the <database>.lk file is intact.
If the Broker or Watchdog, which perform this test, are unable to check the status of the <database>.lk file the broker or watchdog will shutdown the database to preserve database integrity.
FIX:
Monitor available CPU on the system.
Always leave at least 3% to 5% available CPU as a minimum safety margin.
When starting new programs the system will normally devote higher CPU time to the new tasks until they start so take that into consideration when calculating minimum CPU threshold.
