Something to check if your screen paints slowly at login

WHY YOU NEED TO KNOW THIS:

We have seen instances where the screen will paint very slowly at
login for users you must go through a security layer. When the
user logs in we have seen examples of the screen taking from three
to 10 minutes to paint, which is obviously an unacceptable performance
level.
HOW TO RESOLVE:
==============
If you are experiencing this performance lag, check the STTY parameter
for the terminal. This variable should be set to "ixon." See your
system administrator if you need assistance verifying or setting this
variable.
