No. In this particular case, you should upgrade your ODBC/JDBC client to 10.0B because there were a bunch of fixes concerning LOB datatypes.
Besides those fixes, since Progress is constantly improving both the driver and the interaction with the driver, it is strongly suggested that you do not try to connect a OE ODBC/JDBC 10.0A client to a OE 10.0B database, but rather update the ODBC/JDBC client to the same version as the database.
