FACT(s) (Environment):
Windows NT 32 Intel/Windows 2000
Progress 9.1D
Fathom High Availability Replication 1.0A
SYMPTOM(s):
biw, aiw and wdog killed if started by adminserver
CAUSE:
If the source and target database for Fathom Replication are started via adminserver, then there can be a problem that the DB writers and watchdog are not started. This can occur if the source database is started before the target database as, no connections to the database are allowed until the replication server and agent have synched.
FIX:
It is best practice to start the target database before the source database, therefore the source database will synch immediately and therefore not block connections to the source database
