GOAL:
What are the changes in window behavior from Progress 8.x to Progress 9.x
GOAL:
-nozgrouping starting parameter
FACT(s) (Environment):
Progress 9.x
OpenEdge 10.x
All Supported Operating Systems
FIX:
Changes were made in the way multiple Progress windows behave in relation to other non Progress application windows.
Before:
In Progress 8.x, if several Progress windows were opened along with a non Progress application window (e.g. Windows Explorer), the user could obscure some of the Progress windows with his non Progress application. If the user then applied focus to one of the visible Progress windows, that window would move to the screen foreground leaving the other Progress windows obscured behind the non Progress application. In this way the user could compare Progress data with data in a non Progress application.
Now:
With Progress 9.x, applying focus to any single Progress window automatically brings all other current Progress windows to the screen foreground. These windows will then obscure any running non Progress applications.
The startup parameter (-nozgrouping) has been added for users who prefer the functionality as it was in the past. This client startup parameter ensures that Progress 9.x windows adopt Progress 8.x behavior.
