SYMPTOM(s):
Can not connect to webspeed broker from messenger
Webspeed broker ping page hangs until it times out
Messenger and name server verify successful
FACT(s) (Environment):
In the name server verify page, the host/IP for the registered broker shows hostname/10.xx.xx.xx
10.xx.xx.xx is an internal IP
Distributed configuration: web server and messenger outside firewall in DMZ, transaction server inside firewall

CAUSE:
The webspeed broker registers itself with name server by IP, and the IP it registers with (10.xx.xx.xx) is an internal IP which can not be resolved from outside firewall. Thus the broker ping page times out.
FIX:
Modify the broker property using the Progress Explorer, or changing the ubroker.properties file:
1. Set 'registrationMode' for the broker to 'Register-HostName' instead of 'Register-IP', so the external webserver can resolve the host name externally.
2. The property 'hostName' should be set to the host name which can be properly resolved by the external web server.
