SYMPTOM(s):
SYSTEM ERROR: gettbl(fd.c) called with bad fdhandle=<index>. (1414)
Error (1414) when a client disconnect without exiting application
The self-service client was disconnected from the database with proshut.
When the next client wanted to gain access to the same record that the first user had been working on when the problem occurred, the second user got a message saying that the record was in use by the another user - so the record was still locked.
FACT(s) (Environment):
IBM AIX
Progress 9.1A
CHANGE:
They finally had to restart the database server in order to release the lock on the record.
CAUSE:
One posible cause can be that unsupported OS are used.
FIX:
In this case use supported Operating Systems.
