FACT(s) (Environment):

Windows NT 32 Intel/Windows 2000
Progress 9.1D

SYMPTOM(s):

Launching the WebClient application installation fails with error

Unable to expand cabinet file containing ProwcApp file,
<path to the local temporary directory>\<application name>[1]. The system cannot find the file specified.

WebClient Application name contains a "." dot character

Windows explorer "Hide extensions for known file types" turned on.

Application installs fine when "Hide extensions for known file types" is turned off.

CAUSE:

The WebClient initializer does not properly handle application name
having the dot character when Windows explorer folder option
"Hide extensions for known file types" is turned on.

FIX:

Remove the dot character from the WebClient application name in the
Progress WebClient Application Assembler and regenerate the application,
or
disable the Windows explorer option "Hide extensions for known file types".
