GOAL:
Is there any time a Progress process will run without attaching to a port?
GOAL:
Do all Progress processes run with an associated port?
FIX:
When a Progress background process runs in cron you will not see the process associated to a port.
If you run a ps -ef |_progres on the system you will see something similar to the following output:
# ps -ef| grep _progres
mikegm 73520 1 100 07:30:10 - 35:52 /pro8/dlc/bin/_progres
Notice that there is a dash/hyphen where the protocol would typically be displayed.
A typical display would look like this:
mikegm 60174 71770 0 10:59:38 pts/20 0:04 /pro8/dlc/bin/_progres
