GOAL:
Can Progress intall be moved to a different drive on the server without reinstalling?
GOAL:
Does Progress need to be reinstalled when moving to another drive?
GOAL:
Is it supported to copy a Progress installation from a disk to another
FACT(s) (Environment):
All Supported Operating Systems
Progress/OpenEdge Product Family
FIX:
Progress must be uninstalled and then reinstalled to its new destination. Copying the intallation is not supported weather you are on UNIX/LINUX or Windows.
On Windows, the install procedure does more than just creating registry entries, it also copies and registers DLL's & OCX's plus other configuration settings.
Also, the Windows Registry does not contain any information on the settings defined within the Progress Explorer, these are stored in the files ubroker.properties (unified brokers) and conmgr.properties (databases) within the %DLC%\properties folder.
On UNIX and LINUX the scripts are created during intallatiion and references to the Java intallation may become invalid after moving the intallation.
Progress Software advises against copying or moving the product installation without a reinstall.
