SYMPTOM(s):

Report Builder

Report Builder loses font Script setting

Attempting to modify the font script of a field by right-clicking on the field and selecting Font

Script setting defaults back to Western after an alternative is selected

Font appropriate to the Script is set as the Default Font (for example, Arial CE for Eastern European Script)

Affects fields from the database

Affects text written directly into the report in Design mode

No codepage settings are used when calling Report Builder

FACT(s) (Environment):

Progress 8.3x
Progress 9.x
Windows

CAUSE:

Report Builder splits some fonts, such as Arial, Courier New and Times New Roman, and lists each Script as separate font. For example, Arial CE is Arial using the Eastern European Script. These script versions of fonts are not available via the Font menu called when right-clicking on a field.

Report Builder is now a retired product so this issue will not be addressed.

FIX:

Change the font for a database field or piece of text to one which matches both the required style and script/region using the Format toolbar within Report Builder.
For example, using Arial CE will set both the font style (Arial) and script (Central European) in one go.
