Can Actuate be used with Progress on VMS ?
Since the Actuate Report Server does not run on the VMS Platform
an alternate solution to run Actuate is to install the Actuate
Report Server on an NT or UNIX (Solaris, AIX, HP/UX). This Report
Server can then be used to generate, manage and run reports against V7
and/or V8 databases on the VMS for distribution to PC clients
elsewhere on the network.
To access a V7 Progress DB using TCP, Start the db broker on VMS,
and the OIB on the VMS or on the client machine. Then use the same
parameters as to connect UNIX or NT. It's advisable to have as minimum
7.3C13 or 8.1A01 because of the fixes on OIB/OID for VMS.
