FACT(s) (Environment):

IBM AIX POWER 5.2L

FACT(s) (Environment):

IBM AIX POWER 5.1

SYMPTOM(s):

Error on target database during third party backup of none database files on the system.

SYSTEM ERROR: Block 5945 in area 25 received by the Site Replication Agent is not the same as the block sent by the Site Replication Server. (10494)

Unexpected error -133 returned to function rpAGT_AgentLoop. (10504)

Access to the target database is disabled. (10765)

CAUSE:

The 1000TX ethernet card driver on the RS6000 is splitting packets and garbling them when they are re-assembled. This causes errors on the target database when packets are validated.

FIX:

Install driver 5.2.0.18 for the Gigabit Ethernet Adapter 1000TX on AIX 5.1 and 5.2.

IBM has issued a Special Notice for a Required update for the Gigabit Ethernet Adapter on AIX 5.1 and 5.2. Driver 5.2.0.18 should be used.

IBM tech support suggests if the problem continues after the driver update has been applied that the Enable hardware TX TCP resegmentation, Enable hardware transmit and receive checksum should be disabled.
