Extended characters are not properly displayed inside the OS environment of Red Hat Linux 8 or Enterprise 3.0
Border lines around menus or frames do not show correct character on Red Hat Linux 8 or Enterprise 3.0
Midnight Commander (mc) shows the same problem with borders
Using Telia SSH client
Using SSH Communications Security client
Modifying of /etc/sysconfig/i18n LANG="en_US.utf8" to LANG="en_US" did not help
CAUSE:
3rd party (SSH / telnet client issue)
FIX:
Switching to PuTTY when connection to a linux box has fixed the issue.
