FACT(s) (Environment):
OpenEdge 10.0B
SYMPTOM(s):
Getting error (1890) when connecting an SSL client to a DB started without SSL
BROKER: Could not spawn a server. (1890)
Attempting to establish a connection to a Progress database in client/server mode (-S)
Using the -ssl parameter in the client parameter file (.pf)
Database being connected is not SSL enabled
CAUSE:
This is expected. It is not possible to establish a client/server connection between an SSL enabled client session and a Progress Database started without SSL turned on
FIX:
Specify the -ssl parameter when starting the database up so that it has Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) Encryption enabled for ALL TCP/IP connections
