GOAL:
How to get _msssrv.exe file missing from 9.1D09 Service Pack for Windows
GOAL:
How to get all Client/Server networking specific fixes for the MS SQL Server DataServer from 9.1D FCS through 9.1D09
GOAL:
I have a SQL server DataServer license, but 9.1D09 SP does not have _msssrv.exe, why?
GOAL:
Where can I download _msssrv.exe that is missing from 9.1D09 SP?
FACT(s) (Environment):
Windows
MS SQL
MS SQL DataServer
FIX:
If you are using the SQL Server DataServer, after installing the 9.1D09 service pack, you must add one additional file to your installation that was not included within this service pack. The addition file is _msssrv.exe which contains some networking specific fixes. The file can be accessed within the same area (within the Download Center) as where the V9.1D Service Pack 09 Win32 Intel resides.
Easy steps to follow:
1. Download the file
2. Copy the file to %DLC%\bin directory. This will replace and/or overwrite the existing file.
3. Please ensure you have a backup copy of the original _msssrv.exe before copying the new file to your installation.
