FACT(s) (Environment):
Progress 7.3x
Novell Netware 4.11
SYMPTOM(s):
Unable to find server with protocol "tcp" in /etc/services (777)
The following message is in the MPROSRV.NLM file :
The CPU encountered a problem executing code in _MPROSRV.NLM. The problem may be in that module or in data passed to that module by another NLM.
CHANGE:
Changed fabric of network from SPX to TCP/IP
CAUSE:
Client32 has NOT been certified by Progress to be used with the DOS products and TCP/IP.
FIX:
Upgrade your CHARACTER client to 8.3E which supports native Win32 ip protocol for CHARACTER client as well and use TCP/IP protocol to Novell 73E15 database.
The sys:\etc\services on the Novell server as well c:\windows\services on WIN98 clients will need configuring to contain records for all the database servers (they will at present, be missing, because SPX doesn't require these.)
