Edit NT Registry after deleting Progress w/o Uninstall
If you install a version of Progress on NT and then delete the files
and directory manually instead of using the Uninstall icon, you can't
install another version of Progress until you use the NT Registry
Editor (regedt32.exe). In the Registry Editor, you need to delete the
nonexistent installation under Software->PSC. It will specify the
name of the directory that the product had been installed into.
If you don't clean up the Registry, you will get a warning telling you
that there is an existing installation and you can only install
additional products in the previous (DLC) directory. It will not
allow you to change the new destination path; it will be grayed out.
If you continue with the installation, you will get a message after
the tailoring phase that says "The instruction at 0xnnn referenced
memory at 0xmmm. The memory could not be read. Terminate or Debug."
This memory error occurs even after rebooting the computer.
The Uninstall icon should be used instead of removing the directory
and files yourself. It will clean up the Registry automatically.
