Licenses that provide wproserv for a WIPC server

In Version 7.3B through Version 8.1C of Progress on Windows client
platforms (check to verify that you have wproserv.exe in your
/dlc/bin directory), you can start a local database server (also
referred to as a WIPC server) by using the wproserv.exe executable.

Information on WIPC is located in Chapter 6 of the Progress System
Administration Guide for version 7.

The following license types provide the wproserv.exe executable:
ProVision
4GL
Personal Database

Wproserv.exe does not come with a Client Networking license or a
Query/Results license.

NOTE: Beginning with 8.2, WIPC is no longer supported; however, there
is a limited function version of the _mprosrv.exe executable which is
the database server executable. This can be run on a Windows 95 or
NT machine to serve a database locally, which will give the same
functionality as WIPC for testing and development purposes.

The methodology is slightly different, however. You will need to
start the executable with syntax similar to the following:

c:\dlc\bin\_mprosrv.exe c:\work\dbname

Initiate this command from within the working directory of the
database.

From your client sessions you can then just give the explicit path to
the database and connect in multi-user mode.
