GOAL:

What is the y-axis description under JVM graph in Fathom ?

GOAL:

What kind of data I can find on y-axis of JVM usage graph in Fathom ?

GOAL:

What is the related between -mx and y-axis of JVM usage graph in Fathom ?

GOAL:

What does JVM usage graph accessible via http://<machine>:<port>/diagnostics/system.jsp represent ?

FACT(s) (Environment):

Fathom for Management 2.1A ?

FIX:

The units labeling for the Y Axis is shown in the legend at the right of the graph. The JVM usage is in MB. The total height of the columns represents how much virtual memory the virtual machine is running with. The red is how much is currently in use. That height will go up and down over time depending on what is going on in the recent past depends on when the java garbage collector runs).

-mx allows you to set the max virtual memory that the java virtual machine can allocate. The actual virtual memory goes up and down over time. Fathom has no means to find out or know what that max setting is as we do not have this information from java.
