GOAL:
Is it required to specify -mc in the AppServer startup parameters to enable compression
GOAL:
Where to specify the -mc parameter to enable compression between client and the AppServer
FACT(s) (Environment):
Progress 9.1D
FACT(s) (Environment):
OpenEdge 10.x
FIX:
The -mc is the client startup parameter and it is not necessary to
specify it in the AppServer startup parameters, unless the AppServer executes
the procedure that connects to another AppServer and compression is required,
in which case the AppServer is a client to another AppServer session.
Specifying the -mc 4GL startup parameter will cause that the AppServer
agent serving the request for the remote procedure execution automatically
uses the compression algorithm. The AppServer message compression has
been introduced with 9.1D08.
