GOAL:

What are the Progress Keywords?

GOAL:

Where can I locate a list of Progress keywords?

GOAL:

Does Progress have any reserved words?

FACT(s) (Environment):

Progress 9.x
OpenEdge 10.x
All Supported Operating Systems

FIX:

Progress contains a list of keywords which are reserved for use by Progress. These keywords should not be used in procedures as object names (tables, fields, frames, variables, streams, etc.).

If necessary, you can disable new keywords (and the features they implement) until the Progress reserved word can be removed from the application.

The directory where Progress is installed, contains the following keyword files:

newkywd file, lists all keywords that are new in the most recent version of Progress

Other files in this directory are:

newkw6<X> file, which you can use instead of newkywd, if you are converting from Version 6 to Version 9 or OpenEdge 10
newkw7<X> file, which you should use instead of newkywd, if you are converting from Version 7 to Version 9 or OpenEdge 10
newkw8<X> file, which you should use instead of newkywd, if you are converting from Version 8 to OpenEdge 10

<X> represents the version of Progress you are using.

Example:

File names for OpenEdge 10 are: newkw610, newkw710, newkw810
File names for Version 9 are: newkw69 or newkw79
