GOAL:
How to find who has a recorded locked in Oracle
GOAL:
Where can I look in Oracle to see what locks are being held or requested
FACT(s) (Environment):
Progress 9.x
OpenEdge 10.x
All Supported Operating Systems
Oracle DataServer
CAUSE:
The Oracle database manager handles locking the appropriate record in the Oracle database. The Progress PROMON or VST Tables do not contain the information necessary for them to supply the lock information.
Oracle has dictionary views which contain this information. Some of the view names are:
DBA_LOCKS - All locks held and requested
DBMS_LOCK_ALLOCATED - Table of user allocated locks
DBM_DML_LOCKS - ALL DML Locks held and requested.
The locks should be able to be found using Oracle Tools.
FIX:
Contact the Oracle DBA to query the Oracle database to determine which user has the record lock. If they can not determine the information, contact Oracle Technical Support.
