Databases created with 16-bit clients & 8.2 - Dump and load
All databases created with Progress 16 bit clients (DOS and MS-Windows
V6, V7 and V8 clients) have a block size of 512 bytes (1/2 KB).
Beginning with 8.2, Progress can't access those databases anymore,
you will need to dump those databases under your old Progress version,
and load them in 8.2.
If you attempt to connect to a 512 byte block database under 8.2, you
will get Progress error 6011 - Invalid database blocksize nnn.
These instructions also apply for V7 NLM databases converted to V8
with conv78, as they use a 512 byte blocksize also.
Notice that Progress version 8.2A1B incorrectly accepts connections to
such databases, but there are known problems with doing that, and
customers are advised to dump & load before using them under 8.2.
