GOAL:

What needs to be done when up grading Fathom Management 1.0A to 2.0A on UNIX other than what is listed in the Installation Guide or the release notes.

FIX:

There is nothing to be added to the instructions given in the Installation Guide or the release notes.

The major things to keep in mind are standard practice for any upgrade.

Prior to upgrading the version of Fathom Management be sure to backup the complete Fathom install directory.

1. Stop all Progress processes.

2. Backup the Fathomcp_env and Fathom _env files located in the <Progress-install-dir>/bin and the .fathom file ( a hidden file) in the <progress-install-dir>.

3. Insure the Progress installation is at the proper SP level for the version to be associated with.

4. After reading the Standard Edition Installation and Configuration Guide for Version 2, review the hard copy and online Release notes for last minute changes or additional instructions.

5. Once the upgrade has finished, machines with remote databases that will be monitored by this Fathom install, need the latest service pack for the version of Progress installed on the remote machine and the promsgs file must be updated, otherwise the dbagent will not perform messaging properly. Copy the most current promsgs files from the machine with the Fathom installation to the remote database machine.

6. Fathom migration logs are found in the <fathom-install-directory>\migration folder. These files should be viewed to confirm the install completed successfully or determine why the upgrade did not complete.
