Unable to add and save new printer in Unix Results
Symptom: a user tries to add a new printer to the list of output
devices in Unix Results Administration module. They have followed
the steps to do this outlined in Kbase entry 16466 "RESULTS - Printer
set up : New, Edit, Compressed, & Landscape". The printer name
appears to have been added successfully. However, when the user
leaves the Administration module and then goes back in, s/he discovers
that the new printer has not been saved. Also if s/he goes to run a
report, the new printer is not among the list of output devices.
Possible cause and solution: The user may not have sufficient
privileges to modify or add output devices. The user may need
SuperUser privileges. In a typical Unix configuration, the user would
need to log in as Root to enable SuperUser privileges.
