GOAL:
Will Progress support SQL-92 Stored Procedures on 64-bit platforms using the 64-bit software?
GOAL:
When will Progress support SQL-92 Stored Procedures on 64-bit platforms?
FACT(s) (Environment):
All Supported Operating Systems
Progress 9.x
OpenEdge 10.x
FIX:
Progress is planning to introduce support for SQL-92 Stored Procedures on 64-bit UNIX platforms but this functionality is dependant upon the successful testing and certification of 64-bit JVMs. At the time of this writing (8 Oct. 2007), support for SQL-92 Stored Procedures on 64-bit UNIX platforms is planned for OpenEdge 10.1C but this is subject to change.
Currently only a 32-bit implementation of Java is available. Therefore SQL-92 triggers and stored procedures do work on 64-bit hardware platforms when using a 32-bit port of Progress. See solution 20315 for more details. Similarly, 64-bit version of Progress/OpenEdge can currently only use 64-bit JVMs so Java triggers and stored procedures are not supported.
