Status: Verified
SYMPTOM(s):
Replication Server cannot reconnect to the Replication Agent after source database is stopped and restarted.
Message in target database log after stopping source database
The Site Replication Agent agent1 is ending. (10506)
Unable to establish contact with the Site Replication Agent on host localhost. (10498)
FACT(s) (Environment):
Fathom High Availability Replication 2.0A
UNIX
Windows
OpenEdge Replication 10.x
CAUSE:
Bug# OE00102255
CAUSE:
Expected behavior. If the agent shutsdown, the only way to restart it is to restart the target database.
FIX:
For OpenEdge Replication 10.1A and higher, agents can be configured with the new agent-shutdown-action property. Setting this to recovery will allow the Agent to remain running in Pre-Transition state. The agent will stay in pre-transition forever unless auto transition is configured. Connect timeout does not take effect when in pre-transition. Once the offline backup is complete, simply restart the source database.
For versions prior to OpenEdge Replication 10.1A, stop the target database and restart it.
