SYMPTOM(s):

Windows 2000 is using Active Directory

Working directory is grayed out within Progress Explorer

Can not change the working directory since it's grayed out

Directory defined as the working directory has a share on it

Working directory is not local

Working directory is remote to the server

Can not specify the mapped drive on windows 2000 active directory

CAUSE:

The exact cause is unknown at the time of this writing

FIX:

Specify the Universal Naming Convention (UNC) path of the shared resource

For example;
\\servername\sharename\path\filename
