SYMPTOM(s):
probkup in one piece (to disk) fails
Backup failed due to EOF during next output device request. (5057)
Backup terminated due to errors. (1617)
disk has more than enough free space
splitting the backup gives no problem
under etc/security/limits the max file size is set to 2 Gigabyte
CAUSE:
The ulimit was set too low, thus the size of the backup-file exceeds this and the backup fails.
FIX:
Set the ulimit to a value of 2 Gigabyte or to unlimited (ulimit unlimited).
