GOAL:
What is Progress / OpenEdge WebClient?
FACT(s) (Environment):
Windows
Progress 9.x
OpenEdge 10.x
FIX:
Progress WebClient is a thin Progress 4GL client optimized to support the downloading, installation, and updating of 4GL client applications
over the Internet (or an intranet).
Using the Progress IntelliStream application installer hosted on a Web server, this allows a user to fulfill an application need by identifying
the application on the Web and initiating client deployment directly to their local operating environment through the selections they make
in a Web page. This mode of client application deployment supports the Application Service Provider (ASP) model of application delivery.
Accessing databases is done only through an AppServer as the WebClients cannot access directly the databases.
