SYMPTOM(s):
[MERANT][ODBC PROGRESS driver]The evaluation period for this PROGRESS ODBC driver has expired. Please call MERANT to obtain a production version of this PROGRESS ODBC driver.
Warning occurs when performing the "Test Connect" operation within the ODBC DSN configuration window.
CAUSE:
The installation of the SQL89 ODBC driver defaults to an EVAL (evaluation) license. This evaluation license contains a time limit which eventually expires, thus generating the aforementioned warning. To determine whether an EVAL (evaluation) license was installed, navigate to the following icon within the Merant (DataDirect) program group:
Start-> Programs-> Merant DataDirect Connect ODBC 3.x-> License Information
An evaluation license will display "EVAL".
FIX:
To upgrade the evaluation license, uninstall the existing Merant SQL-89 ODBC driver via the Control Panel's Add/Remove Programs. Install the ODBC driver again, selecting the production license, and enter the production license serial number/IPE key. Re-test the ODBC connection.
