GOAL:
Does a PROSERVER job on the AS/400 know if a client has crashed
GOAL:
How to end a PROSERVER job, which lost a client connection
FACT(s) (Environment):
Progress/400 DataServer
FACT(s) (Environment):
IBM AS/400 (RISC)
FACT(s) (Environment):
IBM AS/400 (CISC)
FIX:
When a remote client crashes, there is no notification to the ProServer job on the AS/400. The job will sit in an idle state waiting for another request from the client. If the job has locks associated with it, the locks will not be released until the job is manually stopped.
In order to end the leftover server job on the AS/400 execute a WRKACTJOB command and find the proper PROSERVER job by identifying it from the user id. Enter a 4 beside the job which will END the job. After putting a 4 beside the job, press F4. This will display the ENDJOB screen. In the "How to End" parameter, enter *IMMED to end the job immediately.
