Probuilding ORACLE, undefined symbols
INTRODUCTION:
=============
This PROGRESS technical support knowledgebase entries discuss an
important possible reason why you may get undefined symbols while
probuilding a process that includes ORACLE software (a PROGRESS client
that has the ORACLE DataServer as a configurable element or the
ORACLE DataServer server).
SYMPTOM:
========
Undefined symbols reported from the linker
POSSIBLE CAUSES:
======== =======
If you install some SQL*Net protocol adapter without having the
required protocol software installed on your machine, this situation
might happen. For instance, in order to install the SQL*Net LU 6.2
protocol adapter, you need to install the required SNA protocol
software. The same situation happens if you install the SQL*Net Decnet
protocol adapter or the SQL*Net IPX/SPX protocol adapter without the
required Decnet or IPX/SPX implementation.
All mentioned protocols are suplied by either the O/S vendor, or by a
third party. Refer to the ORACLE documentation for more information on
what protocols are supported by ORACLE.
