Since the schema holder is an empty progress database, the bi file is required, bi file is integral part of a Progress database, without bi, your database is considered corrupted. One should always use -RO (Read Only) parameter when connecting to the schema holder unless the administrative operation of the schema holder is required. In that case user needs to connect in single user mode. If the bi file is not truncated, and a user uses -RO parameter to connect to the schema holder, it will display a warning message complaining about bi file not being truncated. Therefore, the bi file should be truncated but not to be deleted for the DataServer schema holder.
