SYMPTOM(s):
Performance problem starting Dynamics Appbuilder
Setting up a Dynamics development environment on a server machine (Windows 2000 Server), but sees very long startup times. It takes approximately 40 to 50 seconds to get to the login screen and then it takes another 40 to 50 seconds to end up in the AppBuilder. Also starting of the Container Builder takes around 18 seconds (on the first and consecutive runs of it).
The server machine holds the ICFDB and one application database. The client machines have a startup icon that have a shared drive on the server machine as the start in directory and the command line specifies a session type that connects to the database servers through a networked connection. In the ini file (available on the client machine, just like the pf file) that is used on the startup icon in the Target field all reference directories in the PROPATH to a local installation of an OE Studio version of Dynamics
CAUSE:
Network activity.
FIX:
Set up the environment using Terminal Server. This reduced the startup times to approximately 5 seconds.
