Another possible cause from PROGRESS errors 886, 887 & 888
This discussion applies to single-volume databases or multi-volume
databases without any before-image extents defined on it's structure.
If a database has it's before image truncated, on version 6 and
before, PROGRESS ignored whatever existed on the bi file when you try
to open the database again, completelly re-creating the .bi file.
On V7 and latter, in order to avoid misuse of the -g (bi file path)
parameter, PROGRESS will expect the before-image to be zero bytes
if it was truncated.
If you try to startup a database that previously got it's before-image
truncated, and that for some reason, the before-image file is not a
zero-byte file, PROGRESS will generate error messages 886, 887 & 888.
