Status: Verified
SYMPTOM(s):
Receive an error when selecting the WebClient application startup icon
Unable to download application configuration file <appl>http://www.<domain-name.com/<appl>.prowcapc</a>
Uninstalling and reinstalling the WebClient application does not fix the error.
Using a Proxy server for downloading the application
CAUSE:
Running a proxy server and the WebClient proxy information is not configured.
FIX:
Configure the WebClient proxy options:
Run the WebClient Application Manager in WebClient mode. This mode is available from a shortcut created by the WebClient installation. The WebClient installer creates this shortcut by default on the Start menu under the Progress WebClient program folder. When the user uses this shortcut, the Main window opens with the WebClient tab displayed.
The WebClient tab includes a System Settings group box that has editable fields that display values for the application directory, and the host and port of a proxy server if the user's system must connect to your Web server through an HTTP-based proxy server (firewall). If the user provided the proxy host and port during WebClient installation, these fields display them as the initial values. The user can modify them as follows:
Application Directory
Allows users to change the directory on their system where a WebClient application is installed by default. Users can use the browse button to change this directory. You would have your users change this directory when there is not enough space on the drive the user initially specified for the application installation.
Proxy Host
Allows the user to set or change the name or IP address of the host for the user's firewall. This option appends the -proxyhost startup parameter with the associated host information to the list of startup parameters used to execute WebClient.
Proxy Port
Allows the user to set or change the port for the user's firewall. This option appends the -proxyport startup parameter with the associated port information to the list of startup parameters used to execute WebClient.
To save any changes made on this tab, the user must choose the Save Settings button.
