GOAL:
Does OpenEdge 10.x support SQL-89 ODBC connections?
GOAL:
Is it possible to make SQL-89 ODBC connections against an OpenEdge 10 database
GOAL:
is SQL-89 available in OpenEdge 10?
FACT(s) (Environment):
OpenEdge 10.x
Windows
UNIX
FIX:
OpenEdge 10.x does not support SQL-89 connections.
This release does not include the OID (Open Interface Driver) and OIB (Open Interface Broker) necessary to establish the SQL-89 connections to a Progress database.
ODBC connections must be done via the DataDirect SQL-92 ODBC driver instead.
The SQL-89 engine, allowing SQL queries from Progress 4GL, is still available in OpenEdge 10, but it is deprecated.
The database maintains the SQL92 engine, as well as the Progress 4GL engine.
